Garage door wall button does nothing, remote works

Check this first — it may cost you nothing
Check the terminals on the opener where the two wires land — a loose wire there is common and free to fix. Also check whether the button has a lock or vacation function switched on.
Why this happens
When remotes work but the wall button does not, the radio side of the opener is fine. The fault is in the two low-voltage wires running from the button to the motor, or in the button itself.
The wall button is wired, not wireless — a dead one usually means the thin bell wire has been pierced by a staple, chewed, or pulled from a terminal.
Less likely, but possible
- A wire pinched or cut behind drywall
- Corroded terminals in a damp garage
- A failed multi-function panel, which costs more than a plain button
What happens if I ignore it?
Not urgent, but the wall button is the control that still works when a remote battery dies — so losing it removes the fallback.
